Ok, I'll admit, I'm biased....
I work in online marketing and promotion, and so I definitely have a strong opinion formed around those topics.
Nevertheless, I STRONGLY feel that the best investment you can make in your company is having a solid online presence...
Think about it, imagine you have a company selling widget x.
So you try and do some marketing and advetising, but where do you go?
There's no widget x trade publication, and so you're forced to take out ads in newspapers, billboards, TV, radio, magazines, etc...
Meanwhile, most of the people who see your ad are simply not interested in widget x, they are just not your target market...
So you keep on paying the high advertising fees, and you try all you can to find a place where your target market might be spending their time.... You search and search, but you just can't find anything, and so in reality, most of your ad money is spent on views from people who are not your target market. Your money is wasted....
At the same time, unkonwn to you, there are people from all over your area, who are going to google, and are searching for things like "widget x" or "where can I buy widget x?" or "buy widget x" ...
Unfortunately for you, your website is on the 2, 3, 4 or higher page of the google search results, and so the people who are trying so hard to become your customers are left to go to your competitors....
If you haven't so far, you've got to take action and make sure that you are ranking as high as possible in the search engines for the target terms you desire...
