$75K with $250K in inventory from recent purchase of local bookstore - The Art of Literature Book Sellers is the artistic version of Cheers, a place where everybody knows your name. TAOL provides a service beyond access to books. They appreciate the book as an object of art, and printed matter as a craft to share and enjoy.

A new and used bookstore, writers' mecca, and artistic celebration center, TAOL will open its doors December 22, and a grand opening celebration is scheduled for January 1st. The Cape Coral establishment will operate its bookstore via the front half of the store, while the back half will host writing and seminars taught by local authors, editors and agents. TAOL will also host book clubs, reader clubs, and children's story hours, weekly.

When are not in session, local writers and book clubs can use the opportunity and open space to work at their craft. TAOL was launched to ''create a community center in Cape Coral for both readers and writers, and to partner with the surrounding schools and centers to promote literacy and creative expression.

If we're to believe publishing naysayers, the bookstore's demise is nigh-a clumsy, corpulent casualty of the svelte e-reader and the all-encompassing Amazon. Darrell and Victoria Moore, owners of TAOL, could not disagree more. There is a reason that Kindle and Nook are adding ''Paper White'' backgrounds and a ''Page Turning'' option. People still love the feel and look of a book and the community that can be found in a small independent bookstore. The owners are there because they love the craft and they want to share that craft with others.
