The Badgetec business is based on an improved construction and attachment means for name badges, round/shaped tags and IDs. As a disruptive technology in the traditional adhesive and plastic holder name badge business, it provides many issuers and wearers of name badges with new benefits (schools, tradeshows, meetings, etc). With the advent of sheet printers (laser & inkjet for printing designs & names), blank diecut sheets (with slots) for badges and tags can be provided economically because they can be mass-produced worldwide on high-speed equipment without hand labor. Badgetec has successfully introduced this new eco-friendly category of ''wearable badges & tags'' that do not employ adhesives or plastic holders. From our previous business experiences, we designed this new category of holderless badges & tags around AVERY formats (templates). The Badgetec product line is unique in the industry and, in addition to many customer benefits (less work to issue, less inventory to maintain, lower cost, etc.), it provides us with excellent patent protection since previous sheet products incorporated punched slots (12 issued Utility & Design Patents). Long before 2011, we recognized that the traditional plastic name badge holder (originally developed in 1940) to hold paper inserts was technically obsolete because of modern sheet printers. This lead to the concept of diecut sheets (with slots) for the entire badge and holder assembly. They are the first practical & eco-friendly holderless name badges.
