Mail Depot is looking for a person or persons to continue helping our friends and neighbors with their packing and shipping needs. Mail Depot is mailing center and gift store in the southeast area of Salem, Oregon. It is located at the intersection of Liberty Road and Skyline Road, two of the major arterials that feed in and out the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

The major source of income is from the Contract Postal Unit of the USPS. Mail Depot contracts with USPS to offer their services and products at retail rates. These rates are the same as any federally run Post Office. No additional surcharges can be made. Mail Depot purchases stamps and meter funds from the Postal Service. In return, a commission is paid thirty days later for the previous month's transactions.

Mail Depot has a unique concept for a packaging center. Two tables are set up to allow customers a place to pack up their parcels. Over fifty box sizes are available, along with envelopes, padded mailers and tubes. If customers want, they can avail themselves of the packing service.

A large selection of cards, gifts and books fill much of the 1700+ square foot sales floor. On the main floor, a box room / storage area adds an additional 352 square feet. In the basement, a packing area, office and storage have 1150 square feet.

Prior to August of 2015, Mail Depot included private mailboxes, FedEx, UPS and DHL. USPS will not assign a Contract Postal Unit if it has such competitive services. Those services were separated from the Mail Depot and incorporated into an adjacent business: Liberty Mailboxes. The flexibility to meet customer's needs in one location make the two businesses the go to location for shipping services in southeast Salem.
