Business Description:
This listing is for a well-established and profitable hay-farming operation located in the far western suburbs of Chicago that is available to a qualified buyer. They offer hay analysis test reports, grass hay, mixed hay, alfalfa hay, wheat straw and mulch hay. Some of their products are Illinois certified weed-free mulch hay, feed hay and straw. The crop is certified by an inspector with the Illinois Crop Improvement Association (which is a marketing advantage). All of their hay & straw is made in-house locally, with a 12 year experienced haying crew, in Kane and DuPage Counties. The hay bales are in small square bales of 50 pounds and bundled into 21 bales per bundle for automation, ease of production and volume. They sell everything to the lucrative horse market in their region. Some of the hay is made in 800 pound round bales, some of which are stored in barns. All the round bales are net wrapped for quality. The business offers the bale deliveries 24-7-365 and many times the same day, next day and on fixed weekly schedules. They are capable of handling any size order no matter how large or small. They are also fully capable of providing hay in the winter months as well for their committed customers because of their large storage capacity (another marketing advantage) and via brokerage, if need be. In addition to the strong owner income, over $700,000 in assets is to be transferred with the sale. This includes their inventory, equipment and related vehicles. Their barn has recently been rebuilt and is better than ever. Their prices increased at the beginning of May 2019 and by November 2019 were at 200%. Their hay inventory is all presold (this is a COD business) and their production in 2019 exceeded that of 2018 significantly. The 2020 financials also showed significant growth in their revenues and cash flow. Sales in 2021 are set to exceed $600,000 which is a large sales boost and the owner profits set to reach $300,000.
