I have been practicing as a pediatrician for 25 years, both primary care and emergency pediatrics. I became interested in addiction medicine after seeing how illegal opiate use was impacting teens and children. I felt as if I could really make a difference tending to the growing needs of addicted individuals in the community. These are the same individuals who take care of our children. My experience in addiction treatment has been incredibly rewarding. I have had the opportunity to change the lives of my patients. I have seen patients on the verge of divorce reunite to rebuild their families, and I have seen young patients once unable to hold down a job enroll in school and become full-time employees. I have seen patients on the verge of death from heroin use turn their lives around and avoid death and jail time. During their time in treatment, I have seen patients not only help themselves and their families, but also society and the community as a whole. But as the years passed I began to crave more time to spend with my family. The past four years have been very rewarding to me, but now it is time to move on and support my loved ones. The beauty of helping these people lies in the ripple effect that results. Helping my patients overcome their own vices will not only improve the well-being of the individual, but by extension their families, the community, and society as a whole. When a patient is treated, they not only able to become a better person, but that person will reciprocate their new self to better off their children, grandchildren, and family in its entirety.

Growth: The potential for growth of this recovery center is exponential. Our comfortable location has an estimated 750 square feet of untapped space. Currently, we are staffed by two physicians, a managers, and two counselors; each has his or her own individual office space plus two additional rooms. As well, each room in our clinic has been modified so privacy is assured.
